UvA scores high in Tilburg University Economics Ranking

The University of Amsterdam has risen to 27th place in the latest Tilburg University Economics Ranking. In this international ranking of the 100 best economics research institutes, the UvA placed sixth in Europe and second in the Netherlands.

Three NWO grants for the Amsterdam School of Economics

The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) has awarded the Amsterdam School of Economics (ASE) three of the six grant applications it submitted to the Research Talent of the NWO Division of Social Sciences (MaGW) programme.

MN sponsors UvA Chair in Pension Economics

Pension administrator and investment manager MN will sponsor a Pension Economics chair at the University of Amsterdam that will be named after the company. MN will support the MN Chair in Pension Economics for a period of five years.

Three UvA professors named Crown-appointed members of Social and Economic Council of the Netherlands

The Dutch cabinet has named three University of Amsterdam (UvA) professors as Crown-appointed members of the Social Economic Council of the Netherlands (SER). Barbara Baarsma, Aukje Nauta and Evert Verhulp will serve as council members from 1 April 2012 to 1 April 2014.

Alexander Rinnooy Kan appointed University Professor of Economics and Business Studies

The University of Amsterdam’s (UvA) Executive Board has appointed Dr A.H.G. Rinnooy Kan University Professor of Economics and Business, specifically focusing on change processes at the micro and macro level. The appointment is effective from 1 September 2012. Alexander Rinnooy Kan is currently president of the Social and Economic Council of the Netherlands (SER).
