Entrepreneurial activity in The Netherlands has staled. Policy makers, investors and corporations are aware of this and seem prepared to counter this trend. The Netherlands is lagging behind in education, research and development, innovation, entrepreneurial drive and productivity. Over the years, the multi-disciplinary academic body of knowledge about entrepreneurial activity, determinants of successful entrepreneurship and its role for (social) innovation and economic growth has been growing. This knowledge, however, has not always reached policy makers and corporations.
